Accounts Assistant

A rare opportunity has arisen for a Part-time Accounts Assistant at the Bromley Court Hotel. The Hotel boasts 111 well appointed bedrooms, 9 Conference and Banqueting rooms that can service 10 to 180 guests, The Garden Restaurant, two public bars and beautiful landscaped gardens. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the Purchase Ledger to ensure the smooth processing of supplier invoices and payments.

 

Key Tasks and performance objectives:

  • To ensure that all invoices within designated responsibility are correctly authorised (with a PO where necessary), coded and posted to the purchase ledger on a daily basis.
  • To perform monthly reconciliation of purchase ledger balances to supplier statements.
  • Prepare monthly BACS payment runs in accordance with company procedures and issue remittance advices.
  • To ensure that all payments are allocated accordingly and any debit balances are investigated.
  • To manage the weekly petty cash process ensuring that all monies are reimbursed and that all claims are genuine, and backed with a VAT receipt.
  • Process monthly credit card costs
  • Record the expenditure on food costs to produce a running GP%
  • Ensure that all supplier queries are dealt with promptly and efficiently
  • Record and verify booking agent’s commission claims
  • Prepare accruals and prepayments in a timely and accurate manner to meet the purchase ledger closure time for management accounts.
  • Run daily reports – weekly forecast vs actuals, deductions / discounts reports and Covers. Reconcile previous cash takings.
  • To provide assistance in sales ledger and other administrative duties as and when required, especially during holiday cover.

 

Skills and Abilities:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)

Experience with Xero accounting software

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.

Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

 

Salary – £28,000 per annum pro-rata. Part Time, 20 to 24 hours per week. 30 days Holiday including Bank Holidays pro-rata.
